IEC & Basic Import Documents

HS Code & Customs Duty

Check Product Compliance

Bill of Entry & Customs Clearance

Identify the appropriate HS Code for your product and understand the applicable customs duty, exemptions and import conditions before placing your order.

Check whether your product requires BIS, WPC, CDSCO, FSSAI, EPR or any other product-specific approval, registration or licence before import.

Obtain your Importer Exporter Code (IEC) and keep the basic business and shipment documents ready, including Commercial Invoice, Packing List and Bill of Lading or Airway Bill.

File the Bill of Entry with the required documents, complete the customs assessment process, pay the applicable duty and complete examination or other clearance requirements, wherever applicable

CUSTOMS VALUE & DUTY

How Customs Value & Import Duty Are Calculated

Customs duty is generally calculated on the assessable value of imported goods. The value may include the transaction value along with applicable freight, insurance and other additions as prescribed under customs valuation rules.

The applicable duty depends on factors such as the HS Code, assessable value, country of origin and available exemption or preferential duty benefits. Correct product and transaction details are important for proper duty calculation.
